This is a remote friendly position. With a sufficient timezone overlap with the team, we're able to hire eligible candidates for this role from any location in Australia and New Zealand.
The Automations Platform powers the next generation of automations across the entire set of Atlassian Cloud products. The platform is incredibly strategic and is experiencing incredible growth. From a growth perspective there are many vectors: people, adoption and scale.
Our biggest customers now depend on Automations capability and we are hard at work building out new capabilities and scaling the platform to millions of rule executions.
The platform also provides leverage for fast innovation and the creation of new products. We want automations to be a key part of all new product experience and underpin customer interactions across the board.
What you'll do:
This senior engineering leadership role will lead a global team of 100 engineers and work closely with product management, design leaders and others to set the strategy, goals and execution roadmap for group.
You will own significant company goals (OKRs) and their delivery.
You will also set strategy alongside triad partners, growing great leaders, technical stewardship, structuring the organisation to support strategy, helping translate strategy into funded execution plans, navigating high-level dependencies with other Atlassian teams, and leading a distributed team of accomplished engineering teams.
As a platform team, there is a large emphasis on collaboration with other platform and product teams and finding win/win roadmap trade-offs.
There is also a strong element of enterprise-level delivery as Atlassian expands in that market.
We'll Expect You to Have:
Extensive engineering management experience, following Agile development processes with a history of shipping both consumer products and cloud services.
Experience in continuous delivery and deployment practices
Strong technical leadership with an ability to devise and effectively communicate a long-term technical strategy, and inspire the organisation around a shared vision for success
5+ years as an engineering leader owning a budget
Track record of delivering on technology transformations with company-impacting scale and multi-year projects
3+ years managing senior managers, and a track record of successfully scaling organizations of 150+ engineers
Experience building and nurturing cultures of operational excellence, shipping high-quality products to enterprise customers
Ability to communicate directly and clearly, with a strong emphasis on careful listening and empathy, and a bias toward action
