About the role
Title: Head of Fixed Income eTrade Technology
Location: Sydney
ANZ Markets delivers innovative product & solutions across Fixed Income, foreign exchange, money markets and commodities, as well as specialist research and risk management expertise. The business operates in all major financial hubs including London, New York, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Singapore, Sydney, and Auckland.
Markets Technology is the technology partner to the Markets business and is responsible for all applications used by the business front to back. Our primary stakeholders are trading, sales, and operations. We are located in Sydney, Melbourne, Singapore, and Bengaluru with smaller support focussed teams in the other key business hubs.
We are looking for an experienced Markets Technology Manager to be based in Sydney to lead our Fixed Income eTrade technology teams. The team consists of about 25 electronic trading specialists and Java developers that are distributed across Sydney, Singapore, and Bengaluru.
The role is highly strategic and key to ANZ Institutional's ambition of becoming a leading Fixed Income electronic trading business globally. It reports to the global Head of Markets Technology.
From a leadership perspective, you will be responsible for building and managing a high-performance electronic trading team and foster an exceptional tight partnership with the business. You will build technology capabilities and skills through coaching and mentoring people and nurturing a culture of transparency, autonomy, and empowerment.
What will your day look like
  • Drive the Fixed Income Technology strategy and roadmap that supporting the goals and aspirations of the Markets Fixed Income business as well as eFICC.
  • Create a world class Fixed Income Pricing and Electronic Trading platform.
  • Managing the Markets business stakeholders, primarily eFICC, Quant as well as Fixed Income Trading & Sales.
  • Galvanising the squads around a vision and supporting them to successfully deliver customer value at pace.
  • Caring for and nurturing the growth of the team to ensure people are inspired by a sense of purpose and are continually building their mastery and autonomy
What will you bring?

  • Many years of industry experience in financial markets technology.
  • Deep financial markets knowledge and insights into electronic trading system architectures.
  • Development of Fixed Income electronic trading systems and a proven track record of delivering and running critical financial markets applications.
  • Familiarity with leading vendors in the Markets space, e.g., ION Marketview and Bloomberg.
  • Demonstrated track record of managing senior business leadership and desk heads.
  • Agile mindset and a strong desire to deliver on the mission and goals of the business.
  • Experience of working across multiple time zones and locations
  • Proven ability to build, develop, and motivate a team of experienced IT professionals in multiple locations.
  • Value feedback as a way for you and the squad members to grow and learn.
  • Curiosity, humbleness as well as honesty
The 'good to have' knowledge, skills, and experience:
  • Ability to deepen and sustain relationships. Facilitate internal and external stakeholder buy-in.
  • Deep understanding of pricing risk management models for bonds and swaps, and how they are applied by markets traders.
  • Possess a sophisticated repertoire of influencing techniques and ability to adjust style to different contexts and audiences.
  • Ability to define and measure success through the eyes of the customer and anticipates and responds to evolving customer needs.
  • Experience in fostering a culture that encourages the use of creative and innovative problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to create a safe environment for people to try something new and encourages outward focus toward different ways of doing things.
  • Actively seeks and acts on the right opportunities to represent ANZ in the wider community.
