The Role
Reporting directly to the Head of Malvern Campus, The Head of Learning Strategies will support staff and students in the provision of differentiated programmes that allow inclusive and quality learning experiences for children with individual learning needs – at both ends of the learning continuum.
We are excited to offer a rewarding and newly created role in this fulltime position at our Malvern Campus, with an ideal start in Term 2. This role entails a 0.5 FTE teaching commitment as well as lead a dynamic team comprising of Learning Area Leaders and Learning Strategy Teachers. Moreover, you will foster strong partnerships with our student families as a core aspect of this engaging opportunity.
Key Duties

  • Oversee the Learning Strategies program across the Junior Campus and review students involved, as appropriate, in discussion with educators and the Campus Leadership Team
  • Actively participate in and support the Professional Learning Programme for Junior School teaching staff
  • Oversee and enhance the ongoing pedagogy of our Junior School teachers and Learning Assistants can generally, but also specifically related to special education
  • Supervise, coach and support teachers and integration aides in the Learning Strategies Team and assist the Head of Teaching & Learning - PYP and classroom teachers to devise appropriate classroom experiences for children identified as requiring support or extension.
  • Meet regularly with the Student Wellbeing Team regarding referrals to Counselling and Learning Strategies and devise actions to provide appropriate support as required
  • Communicate regularly with families including but not exclusively coordinating Individual Learning Plans
  • Liaise with Allied Health professionals to provide consistent and aligned care
  • Assist the Head of Teaching and Learning Junior School and other relevant staff with the NAPLAN process
  • Lead the collation and submission of NCCD Data in the Junior School at Malvern Campus
  • Model and live the Caulfield Grammar School values and behaviours.
Skills and Experience
  • Experience supporting diverse educational needs in an ELC-6 learning environment
  • Experience managing multiple staff and coordinating support timetables is preferred
  • Experience in the IB PYP is preferred
  • Current First Aid and Anaphylaxis Management Qualifications
  • Teaching Qualification and Post-Graduate Qualification focussed on Learning Needs
  • Hold a current VIT Registration.
