It’s an exciting time for tennis in Victoria and we have ambitious plans to continue to grow the game from grassroots through to high performance. We are transforming how we deliver tennis, with the aim of making it more accessible, to more people, more often. To help us achieve our plan we are looking for a Head of Play to join our Tennis Victoria team on a full time, permanent basis.


About the role

Reporting to the CEO of Tennis Vic, the Head of Play is responsible for leading and managing all activities and projects under the Play Pillar of the Tennis Victoria strategic plan. From a participant's first experience, through to our State and National events, tournaments, and premier competitions, the Head of Play will be responsible for ensuring a quality experience is had by all. You will do this by leading a team of staff who will support you in the delivery of our programs and competitive play opportunities across the state.

  • Support the implementation of the Tennis Victoria (TV) strategy.
  • Collaborate with Tennis Australia to lead the planning, delivery and implementation of National products and initiatives being delivered at a community level.
  • Identify the opportunities and gaps in the playing market and pilot delivery solutions.
  • Critically analyse the delivery model of Tennis Victoria competitions and events to increase the participant experience and overall profitability.
  • Increase and diversify participation opportunities across Victoria, creating a fantastic player and spectator experience, ensuring a clear player pathway.
  • Lead the planning, delivery and implementation of the competitive play State strategy.

About you

What you will bring to the role:

  • In-depth of understanding broadly across community sport and professional pathways, specifically related to tennis.
  • Experience in developing strategy & managing budgets.
  • Ability to be agile in thinking and change management experience.
  • Experience in program creation, implementation and evaluation
  • Alignment with the Tennis values of Excellence, Humility, Collaboration and Imagination.
  • You must hold (or be willing to obtain) a current Police Check and Working with Children Check.
