The Role
Seeking someone with a background in chemical engineering and operations join this international business as the Head of Process Safety, who is passionate about supporting the business across Australia and internationally. They do not operate major hazard facilities, however the role will involve multiple factories processing flammable solvents and combustible dusts. For this reason, there is a strong leadership focus and commitment to ensuring prevention of Process Safety events.
- Lead 5-yearly periodic hazard studies and six-monthly Process Safety lead scorecard reviews.
- Lead hazard studies for major capital projects.
- Provide specialist advice to operating sites as they implement Process Safety improvement actions and initiatives.
- Drive c1ontinuos identification and application of effective Process Safety critical control measures.
- Lead 1continuous improvement in management of Process Safety significant risks through an effective PSM strategy, framework, and improvement plans.
- Research and evaluate best practice PSM frameworks and critical controls for business application.
- Lead reporting on Process Safety lead and lag indicators
- Work with our European sites to progressively implement PSM approaches aligned with our Pacific standards.
- Engage with key stakeholders in our parent organisation partner companies in Asia to share and encourage adoption of best practice PSM.
Your Background
In order to be successful in this role, you will:
- Degree or above qualifications in chemistry, chemical engineering, engineering risk management, or related disciplines.
- At least 10 years’ experience in operational roles in high-risk manufacturing environments.
- Proven experience in facilitating hazard studies, hazard analysis,and lead auditing.
- Advanced data analysis and insights reporting
- Strong system and process skills to incorporate Process Safety Management into wider business systems.
- Strong influencing skills to build relationships with all stakeholders.
- Excellent time management and prioritising skills.
