Following the development of a transformative plan which includes new leadership, new strategic priority setting and an ambitious vision for the future, Canteen is looking to the next phase of stepped growth in reach and income for all Strategic Relationships (SR) based fundraising channels – including Corporate Partnerships, Trusts and Foundations, and Major Giving portfolios.

To help continue this new direction, we are looking for an inspirational leader and business development professional experienced in fostering relationships and growing portfolios who can take Canteen’s vision and create new strategies and build partnerships to help achieve our ambitions.

Canteen is dedicated to supporting young people and their families affected by cancer. Founded by young cancer patients, our mission is to provide essential programs, services, treatments and resources that positively impact the lives of 12-25 year-olds facing their own diagnosis, dealing with a close family member's cancer, or grieving the loss of a loved one. We believe in the transformative power of our team, and together, we aim to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.

About our role

  • Establish and lead the new strategic vision for Canteen’s engagement with Corporates, Trusts and Foundations, and major donors to grow our network and increase financial support.
  • Lead and work with the Strategic Relationships manager(s), Trusts and Foundations manager(s), Philanthropy manager(s) ensuring your fundraising strategies are being delivered and financial objectives are met.
  • Mentor, empower and build the capacity of all the Strategic Relationships team members ensuring they are supported and motivated to deliver to the KPIs and financial targets you set.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets, quarterly forecasting and regular impact reporting whilst continually analyzing and evaluating the performance of your activity.
  • Drive impactful decision-making as one of Canteen’s Marketing and Fundraising Leadership Team, working closely with the Executive Director and other portfolio leaders, as well as having a seat at the table in the Canteen SLT contributing to the development and delivery of the organizational vision and operational plans.
  • Ensure Canteen has excellent relationships with appropriate external stakeholders to reach optimal outcomes for the organization. This includes service providers, consultants, other NFP’s, corporates, donors, supporters, volunteers etc.
  • Build, motivate and develop a culture where there is commitment to help colleagues and the mission thrive.

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field and/or a minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience in a senior fundraising leadership role(s).
  • Proven experience and success in managing large strategic partnerships with an understanding of the corporate sector, philanthropic landscape, and/or trusts and foundations.
  • Proven experience and success in commercial negotiations and contract management.
  • Strong leadership skills and proven experience leading high performing teams.
  • First class presentation and public speaking skills, with an ability to prepare and present information in a clear, logical, and compelling way.
  • A values-based approach and genuine desire to grow your team and those around you.

Due to the nature of Canteen’s work, you will be required to (very) occasionally work weekends and evenings. Advance notice will be given when this is the case, and Canteen does have a Time off in Lieu policy for taking leave as agreed with the supervising manager.

Employment Expectations
