The Brisbane Lions are seeking a passionate professional to fill the newly created role of Head of Venue - Brighton Homes Arena. As a key player in our team, you’ll lead the charge in ensuring operational excellence, revenue growth and stakeholder relationships of our new boutique stadium. You will oversee a team of facilities and hospitality staff to ensure Arena events and operations are coordinated effectively and will work closely with other Brisbane Lions staff to create unparalleled customer experiences.
The responsibilities of the Head of Venue BHA include overseeing facility management and WH&S, with a large focus on people management, customer experience, business growth and event coordination. Key responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Operations Management
- Manage all aspects of event delivery and strategic operations for the stadium.
- Ensure high quality stadium products and services, fostering continuous improvement in customer experience.
- Oversee on-site café and hospitality team, as well as reception function to ensure high customer service and seamless operation.
- Oversee facility management team’s preparation of annual reports, asset management, maintenance and capital works plans.
- Review costs to ensure cost-effectiveness and affordability.
- Ensure compliance with WHS requirements.
Business Development / Stakeholder relationships
- Develop strategies to retain and attract revenue-generating events, driving growth in major and minor events at the stadium.
- Manage event contracting and scheduling to maximise stadium usage.
- Collaborate with other departments to promote the venue across various platforms.
- Maintain strong relationships with tenants and stadium hirers.
Staff Management
- Provide effective leadership and direction, through managing, engaging, motivating and inspiring all stadium staff.
- Take the lead in recruiting, training and managing casual event day staff, ensuring a cohesive team environment.
- Develop and implement administrative and match day cost budgets.
- Ensure understanding and implementation of Club initiatives, policies and compliance issues.
AFLW / Event Day Management
- Lead a cross departmental team in delivering memorable AFLW and other major events, focusing on outstanding fan experiences and event execution.
- Coordinate all aspects of planning, approvals, compliance and insurance to ensure smooth match day operations.
- Play an active role in coordinating minor stadium events, ensuing smooth delivery and an unforgetting experience for attendees.
WHAT YOU NEED:
- Detailed stadium and event management knowledge and experience.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team of people in a major stadium environment.
- Strong communication skills.
- Proficient people management.
- Demonstrated experience in compliance and risk management.
- Formal qualifications in Venue Management, Events or Sports Management is preferred.
- Previous sporting or AFL industry experience and knowledge is preferred.
