Our clients are a long-established and successful Australian-owned and operated agribusiness with large-scale farming and cattle properties in QLD, NSW, and NT. An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Head Stockperson to join the team on this well-resourced property on the Barkly Tablelands, which is 165 kilometres from Tennant Creek, NT and 580km from Mt Isa.The position is based on Rockhampton Downs, covering 1.2 million acres on the Barkly Tableland, Northern Territory. Currently running a large breeding herd, a generous capital improvement program has been undertaken to complement this aggregation and realise its true potential with a highly reliable reticulated stock watering system, large solar bores with mono backups along with new yards, laneways, and modern internal fencing. The business continues looking at new and innovative methods to complement and increase current production. Ideally, the successful person will also play an active role in working alongside management to carry out business plans with livestock targets in mind.
We are seeking applications from suitably experienced headstock people who are looking for a rewarding, long-term position with one of Australia’s leading cattle producers. The Head Stockperson will work closely with business owners and senior managers for the development and delivery of the livestock program. You will be required to provide mentoring and training to staff and be responsible for timely service and maintenance of station plant and equipment, waters, and fences. You will have the ability to keep accurate records and understand the necessity to work effectively with various team members.
To be successful in this position, you will need:
- Minimum two years experience in a Head Stockperson role, including a solid base of hands-on knowledge of large, successful pastoral cattle enterprises.
- Experience at large pastoral Breeding operations.
- High-level staff engagement, communication, and interpersonal relationship skills.
- Ability to set and implement plans and strategies for production in line with company policies and within the strategic framework.
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Commitment to developing a culture of safety and productivity.
A competitive salary package commensurate with experience is available, with on-station living costs covered. A choice between two well-maintained accommodation options will be given to the successful candidate depending on their requirements.
