Job description

The Gladstone Swimming Club is a well-established competitive swim club that has a history of swimmers representing the club at both State and National level.
Based at the Gladstone Aquatic Centre, the club has access to facilities that allow year-round training. In the winter season the club swims in the 6 lane, 25 indoor heated pool and during the summer the club trains in the 50m outdoor pool.
About the role
The Gladstone Swimming Club is seeking a Head Swim Coach who possesses the experience and motivation to develop and implement programs that cater to swimmers of all levels and abilities. This key position within the club requires someone with effective communication and leadership skills and is responsible for delivering a comprehensive program that focuses on the long-term development of the swimmers.
Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver squad program and assist all swimmers in their skill, technique and tactical development.
  • Goal setting and progression plan development suited to member's age and level.
  • Effectively communicate with swimmers, parents and other coaches in a way that supports the swimmer's wellbeing and engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with the club's committee, including attendance at committee meetings.
  • Continue to develop a relationship between the swim club and the pool lessee, in particular, their Learn to Swim program to attract new swimmers to the club.
  • Select and attend targeted swim meets for the season ranging from regional meets through to State and National level meets.
  • Active participation in the club's swimming initiatives, including club nights, training clinics and swimmer assessments.
About you
  • Demonstrated ability in developing a successful squad program from beginner through to State and National level.
  • Leadership and collaboration skills with a willingness to work with key stakeholders in achieving desired outcomes.
  • Effective communication with swimmers, parents and committee.
  • Ability to implement a strategic vision and promote the club whilst being open to personal and professional development.
Qualifications
  • Coaching accreditation - ASCTA Development Coach or higher.
  • Valid Working with Children Check (WWCC).
  • Current First AId and CPR.
