The Central Coast Local Health District (CCLHD) is looking for a passionate Health Clinician to work as an Youth Access Team Clinician (YAT) who will conduct initial screening assessments, provide brief interventions, triage and facilitate referral to support services for a range of young people 12-25 years, including those who may be ‘at risk’ or experiencing mental health problems or mental illness and/or drug and alcohol problems.

An Eligibility List (E-List) or talent pool may be created from this recruitment episode to assist in filling future permanent, temporary, or casual full-time and part-time positions.

This is a maternity relief position and should the permanent incumbent require an early return from maternity leave, this contract of employment will cease with two weeks notice. Maternity relief positions can be for a period of up to 12 months, with the possibility of continued employment for up to a further 12 months for maternity leave reduced hours, therefore there are no claims to permanency.

The YAT worker will liaise closely with mental health professionals from CYPMH, Adult Mental Health Services and co-located partners, to determine the appropriate clinical pathway or referral for young people who access headspace Gosford and Lake Haven services.

About You 

  • You have an Extensive experience working with young people plus demonstrated knowledge of and sensitivity to the mental health needs of young people (12 – 25 years) and their families.
  • You can demonstrated skills in engagement with young people and carers to work holistically with them around mental health issues.
  • You have the ability to maintain linkages and networks with a range of government, community and corporate stakeholders to facilitate clear referral pathways for young people in crisis and at risk of mental health and drug and alcohol problems.
  • You have a current Drivers Licence and willingness to travel to other locations within the District.

  • Social Worker Level 1 and Level 2
  • Welfare Officer Level 1 and Level 2
