About The Role We are seeking a passionate and experienced Health & Safety Specialist to join our team at Cataby.
Reporting to the Health & Safety Superintendent, the primary purpose of this role is to provide training, support, and guidance on all Health & Safety related matters. Your proactive approach and good understanding of WA WHS legislation will be essential in the enhancement of our great safety culture. The Cataby mining operation is located near the Town of Dandaragan, approximately 150 kilometres north of Perth.
This position is offered on a Drive in Drive out (DIDO) basis, on a family-friendly 8/6 roster. You won’t have to worry about flight delays or weekends away from your loved ones. If you need to be home urgently, you can be!

Key elements of the role include: Model leadership behaviours particularly those that are important to health and safety performance Participate in operational planning to ensure that health and safety is considered at the front end of operational activities Facilitate training programs aimed at improving individual technical competency Review task-based risk assessments with the view to continuously improving quality Coach and assist employees/contractors in critical risk verification activities Maintain the EH&S management system Conduct regular interactions in the field with individuals and supervisors by engaging in positive conversations Assisting line management to investigate and report on workplace incidents Assist in improving hazard recognition skills and attention to detail through team inspections Assist in injury management.

To be successful for this role, you will have: Relevant qualifications in Health and Safety (Desirable) Previous experience in the resources industry is essential Good working knowledge on WA Mine legislation Good working knowledge of EH&S systems Strong stakeholder management, communication, influencing and negotiation skills Solid risk management knowledge, with experience in facilitating risk assessments Knowledge and experience of investigation techniques such as ICAM and 5 Whys C Class Driver’s License Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite
