Health and Injury Coordinator

Sino Iron is the largest magnetite mining and downstream processing operation in Australia, located 100kms Southwest of Karratha in the mining hub of the Pilbara.

Our fully integrated operation features an open pit mine serviced by the biggest haul trucks in the world, a six-line concentrator and port terminal facilities at nearby Cape Preston. Our state-of-the-art power station and desalination plant are among the largest in the State.

The Opportunity

CITIC Pacific Mining is seeking experienced Health and Injury Coordinator to join our Health and Safety team on a permanent 8/6 roster, FIFO ex Perth.

This role is responsible for coordinating the Health, Wellness and Injury Management process for the workforce and the company in line with the Health and wellness initiatives of the Health and Safety department. 

The role includes, but is not limited to: 

• Managing work related injuries when they occur onsite in line with the Workers Compensation and Injury Management Act to achieve best possible outcomes for the injured person and the company. 
• Assist with the reduction of Workers Compensation Insurance costs
• Provide guidance and support to business areas in the injury management and return to work process for all work and non work related conditions
• Assist with Injury Prevention strategies including developing injury reports to identify trends
• Maintain effective communication with referred medical and allied health providers
• Assist with coordinating onsite Health and Wellbeing programs and other programs inline with the H&S department plan

Strong communication skills are essential as you will liaise with a large number of key stakeholders which include; doctors, other medical professionals, Contractors, Workers' Compensation Insurers, Human Resources and the Health and Safety Team.

Successful applicant will have:

• Working knowledge of the Workers Compensation and Injury Management Act and Regulations 2023
• Workers Compensation Case Management experience, desirable but not essential
• Experience with coordinating onsite Health and Wellness Programs, desirable but not essential  
• Relevant Tertiary education, Allied Health desirable but not essential
• A current WA Manual Drivers Licence is essential.
