The role:
We are seeking a dedicated Health and Security Assistant to join our team at Muswellbrook Hospital. In this role, you will play an important part in supporting patient care and ensuring a safe environment within our facility. Your responsibilities will include assisting in patient care and inner facility transfers, maintaining cleanliness to high standards, and addressing security issues, including patient restraints. Working under the direction of registered nurses, you will be involved in lifting and moving patients, ensuring personal hygiene needs are met, and performing cleaning duties as per established practices to uphold infection control measures.
You'll be responsible for portering tasks such as patient transfers and handling of medical waste, while also ensuring the availability and safety of oxygen cylinders and responding to security alarms as needed. Your role will also involve managing challenging patient situations with professionalism and wearing appropriate protective gear in compliance with Health and safety regulations. As part of our team, effective communication and teamwork will be essential in delivering efficient and effective service.
The successful candidate will join a supportive environment where ongoing training and orientation, including site-specific and manual handling techniques, will be provided. To excel in this position, you should demonstrate a friendly and courteous demeanor, possess strong organisational skills, and ideally have a background in security or related fields.
