The Role
Joint Health Unit - Central NSW (JHU CNSW) is seeking an experienced APS 3 Health Clerk to work at Albatross Health Centre (ALBHC). Albatross HC provides primary health care to Australian Defence Force personnel.
The successful candidate is accountable under limited direction to perform clinical administration within an integrated workforce. The APS3 Health Clerk must understand and comply with relevant legislative frameworks and Defence’s mission and policy requirements.
Key Duties include:
- Responsible for performing administrative services for the Health Centre including admissions and dispatch, reception, and filing;
- Input of health data to health and personnel management information systems;
- Appointment book schedule management for a multidisciplinary team of health professionals;
- Understand and apply knowledge of medical terminology, materials, equipment and the needs of medical practitioners;
- Liaise with external stakeholders including other health service providers, facilities and laboratories and internal stakeholders including patients, doctors, nurses and medics;
- Health administration associated with the Military Employment Classification System.
About our Team
Joint Health Unit - Central New South Wales provides high quality, multidisciplinary and accountable health care to ADF members in its area. This is provided by multiple Health Centres and smaller clinics throughout NSW. This position, based at Albatross Health Centre in Nowra, is responsible for the Administration functions of the Albatross Health Centre.
The APS 3 Health Clerk position reports to the Health Centre Practice Manager and supports a workforce that includes Australian Public Service and contracted administration staff, Australian Defence Force members and contracted health professionals.
This team manages: initial patient streaming, medical appointments, referrals, specialist bookings and military medical administration processes.

The successful candidate will be an experienced and motivated individual, who demonstrates experience in health administration and shows capacity to quickly master efficient and effective use of Defence Health Systems.
You will have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team to support the delivery of safe, efficient and high quality care to patients. You will have experience in providing support to a wider team, developing productive working relationships by sharing learning; possess strong skills in the Microsoft office suite (or similar), records management, and delivery of a professional customer service.
You will possess excellent communication, planning and organisation skills, with the ability to listen, prioritise and implement effective administrative solutions.
