This position is responsible for assessing a person’s right to accessing confidential information in accordance with legislative provisions and provides support and advice to both the public and staff on how to access confidential information and medical records held by our Hospital and Health Service.This position coordinates the timely release of information and provides specialist technical advice and support to internal and external clients in accordance with relevant State and Commonwealth legislation including Right to Information Act 2009 (Qld), Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld), Hospital and Health Boards Act 2011 and West Moreton Health (WMH) policies and procedures. External clients may include government departments, law firms, insurance companies, and members of the public.
About the role
The Health Information Manager position is responsible for the management of clinical records (paper and electronic) across West Moreton Health (WMH). This is inclusive of planning, implementation, maintenance, review and auditing of Health Information processes in accordance with legislation, policy, procedures and National standards.
The position is to coordinate and facilitate the release of clinical and non-clinical information in accordance with the appropriate legislation and within the defined time frames.
The Health Information Manager also provides support when required to the Clinical Coding Service by ensuring the accurate and timely coding of morbidity data and education to the clinical workforce.
