Based at our site in Athol Park, The Health & Safety Manager will provide business support, expertise, and leadership in the prevention of harm to the Opal workforce and the community we interact with. Reducing the risk of safety related events (both injury and non-injury) and potential for financial loss, reputational damage, and regulatory action.
You will contribute to the success of Opal by:
- To assist in the development and implementation of the ‘One Opal’ Health and Safety Management system and underpinning business expectations.
- Provide frontline support to management and workforce on injury prevention and the Opal safety management system.
- Responsible for the operation of the Opal certification process to ISO45001 and any regulatory licencing that may be required for Health and Safety programs and systems.
- Ensure the engagement of Health & Safety Representatives and committees and that worker consultation requirements are met.

Specifically for this role, we expect you will have;
- 10 years + experience in H&S systems management leadership and design
- Experience in process safety
- Experience in six sigma/learn approaches to systems.
- Ability to act as delegate to the Head of Process Safety and Systems transformation.
- Strong analytical and report preparation skills
- Ability to deliver in tight time frames and under pressure.
