The Opportunity

This is your opportunity to be a part of a world class research Institute that makes a difference to the health and wellbeing of children. Reporting to the Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manager, you will be focussed on providing pragmatic Health, Safety & Wellbeing support, where you will be exposed to a broad range of tasks to help drive and support the team to protect and improve the health and wellbeing of our people.

This is a varied role providing support to the team but with the opportunity to be exposed to many different aspects of Health, Safety and Wellbeing if you have the right attitude and want to develop.

The Role

As our Health, Safety & Wellbeing Coordinator you will provide customer and solutions-focused support to our people, responding to health, safety & wellbeing queries in a timely manner and building effective relationships. This includes being responsible for coordinating elements of the health and safety management system along with ‘Flourish’, the Institute’s health and wellbeing program.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Act as a first point of contact for Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW), providing administration support to the HSW team;
  • Prepare reports and provide statistical information to management;
  • Undertake health and safety audits, worksite inspections and investigations and ensure that appropriate risk identification, assessment and control measures are in place;
  • Deliver HSW training, including new starter Inductions;
  • Provide ergonomic workstation assessments and appropriate assistive equipment; and
  • Work with the whole People and Culture team to establish initiatives that support a positive and engaged work culture.

Conveniently based at Perth Children’s Hospital, this role will be offered on a full-time basis for 3 years with a high possibility of extension.

About You

With a positive, fun and experienced team to support you this is a fantastic opportunity for a recent graduate or someone with previous Health, Safety & Wellbeing experience who is looking to take the next step in their career. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, has a keen eye for detail and has a true passion for all things people with the following attributes:

  • At least two (2) years health, safety and wellbeing experience;
  • Demonstrated experience in the coordination of health and wellbeing initiatives;
  • Strong time management, organisation and administrative skills, enabling rigorous prioritisation of business-as-usual activities and project work, to deliver competing work priorities in order to meet deadlines;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate to a variety of stakeholders;
  • Experience in conducting risk assessments, safety audits and safety investigations;
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering safety training or inductions (desirable).
