Offroad Trucks Australia are a highly respected and thriving privately owned business importing and distributing heavy vehicles across Australasia to the mining, drilling and emergency services sectors.

Over the past 25 years, we have exclusively partnered with award-winning manufacturer Tatra, the oldest automotive manufacturer in Central Europe, whose heavy-duty off-road trucks are sought after the world over for their renowned durability and reliability (check out the video below, they’re awesome!).

With our head office and workshop in Perth, we have an additional 100 authorised mobile service outlets throughout Australia, and we continue to grow as the demand for our customised Tatra Trucks and bespoke services increases. As such, we are now looking for an experienced HD Diesel/ Truck Mechanic to join our close-knit team.

The Position

Reporting to our highly supportive Maintenance Manager, your major responsibilities will include:

• Perform pre-deliveries and assist with fit outs on new vehicles.
• Conduct routine maintenance inspections on vehicles and identify potential issues or areas of concern.
• Perform complex diagnostics to determine the cause of malfunctions or issues.
• Carry out re-builds, repairs and replacements on engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, and other components.
• Utilise specialised tools, equipment, and diagnostics to efficiently troubleshoot and rectify issues. 
• Adhere to manufacturer specifications and guidelines while conducting repairs and maintenance.
• Provide technical guidance and assistance to less-experienced team members when necessary.
• Stay up to date with industry advancements, new technologies, and Tatra specifications.

What we need

Ideally we are looking for someone with the following skills and experience: 

• Relevant certification or trade qualification. 
• Minimum five (5) years post trade experience working with trucks or heavy diesel engines.
• Current Manual HR Licence, and Forklift ticket desirable.
• Previous experience with Paccar MX Engines or similar desirable but not essential. 
• Previous experience with ZF and Allison transmissions desirable but not essential
• Ability to conduct Computer diagnostics.
• Component rebuild experience. 
• Solid understanding of work health and safety practices within a workshop environment.
• Must have ability and willingness to occasionally travel to site (regional and interstate) if required.
• Desire to learn, and grow and develop within the business, and a commitment to quality and working positively with our  team.
