Job description

Micah Projects is a community based not-for-profit organisation with a vision to create justice and respond to injustice at the personal, social, and structural levels in church, government, business, and society. We believe that every child and adult has the right to a home, an income, healthcare, education, safety, dignity, and connection with their community of choice. Micah Projects provides a range of support and advocacy services to individuals and families.

Brisbane Domestic Violence Service (BDVS) is the specialist domestic violence service for the Brisbane metropolitan region. Brisbane Domestic Violence Service is funded by the Department of Justice and Attorney General to provide free and confidential services to adults and children who have been impacted by domestic and family violence. BDVS has a focus on achieving safety and stability for the individuals and families that we support.

In response to the Not Now, Not Ever report the Queensland government has funded the establishment of High-Risk Teams (HRT) to provide a case coordination forum for appropriate information sharing to ensure risk assessments are comprehensive, inform safety planning and risk management as well as enabling swift and flexible action across agencies in response to need.

The High-Risk Teams include members from government and non-government agencies working with people experiencing or using domestic and family violence.

How you will make a Difference:

As a High Risk Team Coordinator, you will work in close partnership with Team members to review and manage referrals of high and imminent risk cases of domestic and family violence, leading the multi-agency case coordination process.

This is a permanent full time employment opportunity with conditions and salary at Level 5 of the SCHADS Award.

To be considered for this role, you’ll need to hold a relevant qualification and/or extensive experience, or a combination of experience, expertise, and competence.

We are looking for people who have demonstrated experience in providing a holistic, trauma-informed, participant-centered approach to working in a crisis environment and respond to multiple demands with a problem-solving approach; assess risk and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Knowledge of or ability to acquire relevant knowledge of legislation and regulations, such as the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012 Section 5A Information Sharing, the Child Protection Act 1999, and an understanding of the Family Law Act is also essential as part of this role.
