This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about horticulture and looking to kickstart their career in this industry. This traineeship also has the potential to progress into an apprenticeship, providing the successful candidate with valuable on-the-job training and a pathway to further career development in horticulture.
This is a full-time position, and the successful candidate will be enrolled in a Certificate II in Horticulture. The traineeship will be for a minimum of 12 months, with the possibility of extension upon successful completion.
Number of positions/s: 3
Location: Caloundra, Maroochydore and Noosa
Hours per week: 38
(Important – if you have completed a Certificate III or higher since leaving school you may not be eligible for this traineeship, we will confirm your eligibility upon applying)
Duties may include but not limited to:
- Assist with planting, pruning, and maintaining a variety of plants
- Learn about soil and plant nutrition, irrigation systems, and pest management
- Help maintain and repair tools and equipment
- Contribute to creating and maintaining safe and healthy working environments
- Participate in workplace communication and teamwork
- Any other tasks reasonably requested by the host employer
Applicants will ideally meet the following criteria:
- Passion for horticulture and willingness to learn
- Must be willing to undertake a Certificate II in Horticulture, which is the required qualification for this traineeship
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team
- Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks
- Minimum of Year 10 schooling completed
- May require a current driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle (depending on the host businesses location and requirements)
