The Supported Residential Care Service provides 24/7 accommodation and quality care facilities for Children and Young People who are under the guardianship of the Chief Executive of the Department for Child Protection
Working within a therapeutic framework, we support and teach new coping skills to Children and Young People in care who have experienced trauma, abuse and /or neglect and aim to facilitate transition into other alternative care options.
The House Supervisor is responsible for coordinating day to day operations of our exciting new Residential Care Service. This includes:
• Ensuring therapeutic interventions and routines are implemented to provide a consistent, safe, secure, and supportive living and learning environment for the Children/young People residing in the Residential Care House.
• Working pro-actively and responsively, providing therapeutic and practical support that will contribute to quality outcomes for Children and Young People.
• Providing effective support and therapeutic guidance to Residential Care Workers.
• Maintaining a Child Focused Practice at all times.
This position is based in Whyalla, South Australia.

The ideal candidate will have:
· Degree level qualification in Social Work and/or related Human Service qualification (current students working towards qualifications are also encouraged to apply).
· Knowledge of the Children and Young People (Safety) Act 2017 and Charter of Rights for Children and Young People.
· Knowledge and ability to apply relevant theories and therapeutic practices relating to trauma and attachment for children and young people who have experienced trauma, abuse and/or neglect.
· Demonstrated ability to support the implementation of therapeutic and approved processes and systems that support staff within their role.
· Experience working autonomously with minimal supervision.
· Effective negotiation and communication skills, and ability to manage and respond to challenging and confronting situations and behaviours with flexibility.
· Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and organise workload accordingly.
· High level of ability in using Information Technology and Microsoft Office programs.
Requirements of the role:
· Suitable outcome of a Psychological Suitability Assessment
· Hold (or willingness to obtain) a DHS Working With Children Check – don't worry, we can support this process if necessary!
· Hold (or willingness to obtain) a National Police Clearance
· Hold a current South Australian Driver’s License (minimum Provisional License)
· Be fully vaccinated for Covid-19 (minimum of two doses) - evidence will be required prior to appointment
