Housekeeper position at the Embassy of Finland

The Embassy of Finland in Canberra is looking for a part-time housekeeper to work at the Residence of the Ambassador of Finland. The main duties include cleaning the Residence and general housekeeping duties. Occasionally, especially during the absence of the Ambassador, the housekeeper may be assigned similar duties at the neighbouring Finnish Embassy building, too. Ability to occasionally prepare meals for a small group of invitees would be considered a plus.

The monthly salary in this position (18 hrs per week) is min. AUD 2100, depending on the qualifications, experience and the agreed duties and tasks. This position is part time, 18 hrs per week with possibility to extend to include more hours up to full-time position depending on budgetary situation.

The Applicants should have a valid working permit in Australia. The Embassy does not sponsor a visa for this position.

Key responsibilities:

• Cleaning of the Residence: public guest entertaining and eating areas, rest rooms, kitchens, outdoor furnishings, windows, outdoor areas incl. poolside. Ambassador’s private quarters as agreed. 
• General and varied housekeeping duties
• Perform all cleaning operations according to pre-determined schedules 
• Depending on qualifications, occasionally preparing and serving breakfast, lunch or dinner  

Skills and experience:

• Appropriate qualifications and equivalent experience
• Able to communicate in English or Finnish
• Flexible, punctual & reliable
• Can start working in this position at latest on 15 July, 2024
