To support Sedgman’s strong safety culture we are currently seeking an experienced HSET Advisor to join our operational team. This role is a hands-on position providing support, advice and assistance in the HSET areas. This position will be on a 9-day fortnight (5on 2off 4on 3off), with the preferred candidate based in Muswellbrook or the surrounding area.
What does this role involve?
Reporting to the Manager Operations, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Being a visible safety front-runner onsite by partnering with operational leaders and frontline employees to provide trusted HSE advice
- Coaching and mentoring all site employees on the successful delivery and application of fundamental HSE processes (i.e. JSO’s, risk management, fitness for work, manual handing etc.)
- Developing and providing relevant HSE information to operational leaders (i.e. educational material, safety statistics and auditing findings)
- Facilitating, coordinating and implementing HSE Management Plans for various sites
- Liaising with internal and external clients, contractors and relevant joint venture partners to ensure that HSE requirements are developed, implemented and reviewed on a regular basis
- Evaluating HSE performance to ensure that critical HSE issues are identified to allow development, implementation and review of mitigation strategies
- Providing onsite support for incident investigations and risk assessments
- Providing training and assessment to operator maintainer personnel to meet relevant standards and requirements
- Assisting the site leadership team in identifying training needs to ensure a high level of training compliance is maintained
- Qualification in Occupational Health and Safety
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment
- A minimum 3 to 4 years’ experience in a process plant operation environment with particular emphasis in coal or base metal process plants.
- Excellent stakeholder management and people management skills
- Knowledge of HSE standards and regulations as well as Workers Compensation Legislation
