Primary Purpose of Position 

The Human Resources Manager, People & Culture Regional is responsible for providing accurate and timely HR advice, support and consultancy services to managers and staff members in delivering organisational objectives within CDC. 

This position will focus on managing all HR issues, policy development and communication, HR reporting, coordinating the performance management and remuneration processes, and supporting recruitment processes. 

Qualifications/Knowledge/ Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in HR or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience and skills in a HR Advisory/Consultancy position and a sound knowledge of contemporary HR or ER/IR practices 
  • Demonstrated ability to establish productive partnerships and working relationships to maximise business outcomes 
  • Current National Police Check and Driver’s Licence
  • Ideally, knowledge and experience of public transport or logistics industry 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills along with the proven ability to positively influence situations of conduct and behaviours of others through effective mediation, facilitation and negotiation 
  • Personal initiative and attention to detail and a high level of organisational, planning and time management skills
  • Ability to work autonomously within a complex, fast-paced and challenging environment
  • Pragmatic, solution orientated and energetic
  • Proven ability to establish a successful customer service culture within the organisation, with a commitment to customers demonstrated through the provision of timely, reliable and expert advice on matters within the area of responsibility
  • Must be team oriented, results focused, and possess a high-level attention to detail

Major Responsibilities 

  • Monitor HR compliance issues and assist in general HR administrative functions;
  • Manage the development, implementation and monitoring of policies and procedures based on relevant legislation and contemporary HR management practices which provide an effective, consistent and timely delivery of HR services to the organisation;
  • Provide an advisory service to line managers, salaried staff, maintenance staff and drivers about HR management, workplace relations and policy and procedure matters; and

Specific Responsibilities

 Depot Operations 

  • Provide a consultancy and advisory service to line management and staff on HR management issues including recruitment and selection, performance management, grievance and dispute resolution, internal policies and procedures, interpretation of relevant legislation and industrial agreements, and remuneration and benefits.
  • Assist management and staff in the investigation and resolution of escalated grievances and performance issues as required.
  • Provide HR related support to their Service Delivery Managers and their respective depots on workplace related issues;
  • Coordinate regular meetings with Operations Coordinators to assist in further development opportunities. 

Policy & Compliance 

  • Provide advice on the interpretation of relevant awards and legislation relevant to CDC employees.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and monitoring of internal policies, guidelines, procedures and processes which provide an effective, consistent and timely delivery of HR services to CDC.
  • Assist in monitoring and ensuring organisational legislative compliance in relation to workplace practices.
  • Contribute to CDC’s workplace culture through the development, review and promotion of our values and staff engagement action plans. 

Occupational Health & Safety 

  • Demonstrate work health and safety due diligence and leadership through understanding the nature of the company’s operations or undertakings and generally of the hazards and risks associated with those operations.
  • Ensure compliance with CDC’s OHS Policy and the Work Health and Safety management system through adhering to and supporting the relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Demonstrate leadership which encourage behaviours that promote OHS responsibility, consultation, accountability and awareness.
  • Ensure that all staff accidents, incidents and near misses are reported and investigated in accordance with relevant CDC Policy. 
  • Positive industrial relations with all staff for the duration of the project
