ICT Principal Project Manager, 12 month temporary position, based in Sydney CBD or Parramatta plus flexible working options available

About the role
The role is to project manage the build of a notification system for interstate licensees to advise the NSW Government of their intentions to work in NSW and to create a public register to advise the NSW public of verified interstate licenses. The Senior ICT Project Manager will work closely with the DCS Program Management team, Treasury, Vendors, Solution Architects and Senior Business Analyst. The Project Manager will be responsible for managing the risk, quality and progress of this project to organisational standards, and ensure the last phase of the project is completed on time, on budget, to quality standards, and within the agreed scope. There will be client consultation with various business teams within which will require excellent communication skills and the ability to work across diverse groups and their requirements. As this project is in the final stages of delivery and time critical, we are looking for a Project Manager with existing knowledge on Automatic Mutual Recognition and existing relationships with the relevant stakeholders.
Key Accountabilities include:
- Manage the planning and delivery of this complex project
- Manage teams to ensure project outcomes are achieved
- Develop and implement project management plans to ensure the success of projects
- Liaise closely with business SMEs
- Regularly communicate with key stakeholders to ensure project outcomes are met
- Balance competing demands to ensure projects objectives are achieved
- Manage risks and issues, escalating as needed
- Inspire and motivate the project team, provide direction and manage performance
- Participate in discussions and decisions to implement innovation and best practice
- Lead project problem solving where needed
- Manage contracts and procurement and provision of services
To be the successful in this role you will demonstrate:
- Knowledge of the NSW Government licensing system and legislation that governs this scheme.
- Understand the role and function of Government Technology Platform and have established relationships.
- Experience working with senior stakeholders in Treasury.
- Experience managing Vendors.
- Be able to work in a highly time critical delivery environment with the ability to pick up complex projects with very little lead/familiarisation time. It is important that this existing project is delivered on time and to budget without further delay.
- More than 10 years' experience successfully managing medium to large ICT projects in an enterprise environment with strategic delivery of the application roadmap
- More than 7 years' experience managing ICT projects using recognised waterfall methodologies
- More than 5 years' experience managing ICT projects using an agile methodology applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory
- Awareness and experience with Agile techniques: User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games.
- Applicable knowledge of the technologies used by DCS ICT teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
