The Facility:
This is a 380 bed Tertiary Teaching Hospital and referral Hospital for the region covering a direct catchment of 140,000 and referral base of over 250,000. The facility has recently undergone a major redevelopment including extensions to the operating theatres, ICU as well as new 28 bed acute medicine unit adjacent to the recently constructed ED. The Hospital has a busy 20 bed general paediatric ward with a dedicated Adolescent Unit and a 9-bed level 2 neonatal unit with 3 ICU cots, for an obstetric service with approximately 1600 deliveries per year.
The ICU Dept:
Purpose-built Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with 11 fully staffed beds (expandable to 13) is a major referral centre for North and North West Tasmania. Accredited as a general training unit (C12 pre-2014) by CICM and for completion of the ICU requirement of training for both ACEM and ANZCA trainees. Time in spent also counts a Rural Exposure for CICM. Trainees gain exposure to a wide range of investigations, interventions, and procedures.
The hospital is also a Workplace Based Assessment Centre for applicants working toward their General Registration with AHPRA.

Either hold or be eligible for registration with AHPRA
For on shore doctors have at least 6 months ICU experience
For overseas doctors have at least 48 months ICU experience
Have a significant interest in building your career in Intensive Care Medicine
