The Joombarn-buru Aboriginal Corporation ('JbAC') is a prescribed body corporate established and operating since 2021 (ICN 9583), its core function is to manage the Native Title Rights and Interests of the Joombarn-buru People, which oversees 940 square kilometres of exclusive and non-exclusive possession of native title.
We aim to preserve culture, provide Indigenous employment opportunities and to operate as an influential organisation with strong internal and external communication channels.
The role:
The Implementation Officer plays an active and vital role in representing the interest of the Joombarn-buru people in relation to the Thunderbird project operations. Managed through JbAC the Implementation Officer is directed in accordance with the Thunderbird Project Co-existence Agreement and will report to the Implementation Committee on performance objectives. The position being supported at the day-to-day level to achieve those objectives through the General Manager.
The responsibilities:
We are seeking an Implementation Officer with experience in contract management, interested in supporting the aspirations of the Joombarn-buru people, and who will possess the core skills required to ensure success. The Implementation Officer is primarily responsible for the administration of the Thunderbird Project Co-existence Agreement and matters arising under it on behalf of the Joombarn-buru people and the Native Title members.

Selection Criteria:
- Demonstrated ability and interpersonal skills to work with Australian Indigenous people at a community and organisational level, and experience in cross cultural environments.
- Ability to manage projects in a cross cultural and remote environment. This includes setting work priorities, working under pressure, and meeting deadlines in accordance with project agreement objectives.
- Ability to manage project budgets and exercise financial delegations.
- Ability to report on the performance of project objectives, including the collection and preparation of information for output reporting.
- An understanding of the issues facing Australian Indigenous peoples and knowledge of the native title issues and processes affecting service delivery in this complex environment.
- Demonstrated computer skills and the capacity to use new technology.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience working with Traditional owners in the resources industry sector; and
- Traditional Owner understanding of Joombarn-buru native title rights and interests.
- Preparedness to travel in the course of work, including by air.
- Australian Federal Police clearance.
- Current WA Drivers Licence.
- Valid Working with Children’s Check.
Note, a valid ‘C’ class drivers licence, Working with Children (WWC) and Police Clearance will be required prior to successful employment.
