Improvement Specialist | FIFO

This role would operate on a 5:2/4:3 FIFO roster from Perth, paid 12 hours per day and at a competitive hourly rate.

About The Role

We are seeking a talented Specialist - Site Improvement to join our inclusive and high performing Mining Area C operation where you will seek to identify, lead and support improvement projects across all operational areas of Mining, Mobile Maintenance, Processing and Fixed Plant Maintenance.

You will upskill everyone in problem solving skills and support the frontline and leaders to develop and sustain new ways of working. You will be hands on in implementing systematic improvement and be central to the spread of the BHP Operating System across our business. 

You will utilise innovative approaches, tools, and technology to add real value to our assets - setting new standards to guide improvement activity, elevating and supporting our people. You will gain insight and training in the BOS methodology and will be expected to upskill others through your work.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribution to the MAC's initiative pipeline
• Use data analysis and other scientific methods to help identify and prioritise improvement initiatives
• Spend time in field with frontline to help improve frontline processes
• Work with relevant stakeholders to plan, build, test and deploy practical solutions to improve MAC
• Facilitate problem-solving sessions to identify the root cause of problems, collaboratively problem-solve and explore opportunities to implement Standardised Work and BOS tools
• Coaching MAC Superintendents, Supervisors and Frontline in BOS principles, practices, and associated tools to build lasting capability and maturity of the Operating System

About You

As the successful candidate you will be able to demonstrate the following:

• Relevant experience in leading and coaching roles
• Ability to influence and work with teams to collaboratively problem solve
• Ability to critically observe, coach, and provide feedback to peers and leadership on improved ways of working
• Proven ability to lead sustainable improvements and change management
• Bias to action and interest in implementation
• Strong problem-solving skills and project management skills
• Ability to apply systems thinking and analytical methods to drive decisions and improvements
• Experience with data analysis or other analytical methods
• Experience with CI methodologies and Standardised Work is desirable
• Time in or working closely with Execution teams

Location

You will be based at our 'Area C' mine site on a fly-in fly-out 5:2/4:3 roster. Our Area C mine is located approximately 100kms North West of Newman, West Australia. The outstanding facilities at the FIFO village include a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, netted cricket pitch, tennis and basketball court, beach volleyball court and recreation room including a pool table, darts, table tennis, TV, and DVD player. All rooms at the village have their own ensuite bathroom, television, refrigerator, and air-conditioning.
