Play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and supporting the company's strategic objectives in the energy sector.

You will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and supporting the company's strategic objectives in the energy sector.
Reporting to the General Counsel, the successful candidate will provide expert legal advice on a wide range of Energy Regulation and Policy matters, contributing to the company's ongoing success and growth.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert legal advice and strategic guidance to senior management on complex Energy Regulation and Policy issues.
  • Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments in the energy sector, advising on potential impacts and risks to the company.
  • Develop and implement compliance programs and policies to ensure adherence to relevant laws and regulations.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, agreements, and other legal documents, including power purchase agreements, regulatory filings, and compliance reports.
  • Represent the company in regulatory proceedings, hearings, and investigations, advocating for the company's interests before regulatory authorities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess legal risks associated with new business initiatives and provide strategic guidance on risk mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support business decision-making and strategic planning, including assessing the legal implications of new technologies and market trends.
  • Provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders on legal and regulatory compliance matters, promoting a culture of compliance throughout the organisation.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging trends in Energy Regulation and Policy, proactively advising senior management on opportunities for innovation and growth.
  • Maintain strong relationships with external legal counsel, industry associations, and regulatory bodies, representing the company's interests and advocating for favourable regulatory outcomes.
Requirements:
  • Qualified lawyer with 3-4 years of PQE in Energy Regulation and Policy.
  • Strong understanding of Energy Regulations and legislation, with a focus on renewable energy and sustainability.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities effectively.
  • Analytical mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving and a keen attention to detail.
