An exciting opportunity exists for an Indigenous Engagement Advisorto join Snowy Hydro and play an important role in delivering initiatives and programs which empower and celebrate First Nations people and culture.
Reporting to the Manager Communications, Marketing and Engagement, in this role you will build and cultivate authentic and respectful relationships with the Traditional Owners on the lands where we operate.
This is a permanent full-time position, based in Cooma, NSW on Ngarigo Country, with occasional travel to our regional sites.
Your responsibilities
Lead and facilitate opportunities for active Indigenous participation and engagement
Develop and implement First Nations' action plans in line with Snowy Hydro's ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) strategy
Enhance Snowy Hydro's value and connection with key stakeholders and partners through shared storytelling, consultation and collaboration
Develop partnerships to build mutual respect and understanding
Support the Snowy Hydro Community and Education teams to deliver First Nations' engagement activities, as required
Your experience and capability
You have strong connections and experience working with First Nation organisations and communities
You have a strong understanding, empathy and insight into the historic and ongoing challenges faced by our First Nations people
You are experienced in designing and delivering multi-stakeholder and community engagement plans, respecting Indigenous culture and protocols
You possess the ability to engage sensitively, diplomatically and effectively with a range of stakeholders in a sometimes challenging and complex environment
You possess a bachelor degree or equivalent experience in community engagement, communications, social services, humanities or related disciplines, or equivalent experience
