Job description

The Indigenous Trainee (School Based) will participate in business as usual activities as part of their learning and development. Working closely with members of relevant teams, the Indigenous Trainee will gain valuable exposure, learn new skills and understanding of the day-to-day workings of a large organisation while completing their BSB30120 - Certificate III in Business.

The Indigenous trainee will be supported by the Indigenous Mentor, workplace champions and a dedicated Trainer throughout their traineeship.


The traineeship will comprise rotations in one or more business areas which may include:

Marketing and Communications

  • Learn about scheduling and structuring of communication
  • Creating communications and the importance of language styles and platforms for various audiences
  • Review marketing materials and learn about print versus digital marketing
  • Beginning to end of the creation of a marketing product

Registered Training Organisation

  • Update and maintain accurate participant records in SEE and AMEP systems
  • Update and maintain accurate participant records in Student Management System
  • Exposure to team inboxes
  • Assist with the issuance of statements and certificates
  • Exposure to vocational education and training
  • Exposure to other adult education programs

Employment Fund

  • Checking MAX Active for Purchase Authorisations Reviewing claims before entering them into WFA Online manually
  • Reconciling Credit Card transactions
  • Entering invoices into Job Ready for review and payment

Client Service Team

  • Updating and maintain site contact spreadsheets
  • Assisting management in organising team events with the use of various computer programs
  • Exposure to frontline customer service via phone calls
  • Exposure to customer complaint handling with Business Managers
  • Completing daily and weekly reports for team
  • Auditing customer Job Searches for quality applications

Other

  • Other duties as required, commensurate with the skill and experience required for the position and to meet the guidelines of the BSB30120 - Certificate III in Business
  • Comply with all WHS procedures ensuring that team members, including volunteers and contractors abide by the relevant health and safety procedures
  • Act as a role model by demonstrating safe work behaviours and report all accidents, incident or near misses, immediately
  • Currently at school enrolled in Year 10 or 11 and progressing towards the attainment of a Queensland Certificate of Education or equivalent and/ or a vocational qualification
  • Eligible to gain entry into a school-based traineeship program in Queensland
  • We adhere to the National Principles for Child Safety and require all team members to be committed to child safety and wellbeing. Our induction and training will provide you an understanding of these principles, including understanding children’s developmental needs and culturally safe practices
  • Be able to obtain a MyGov Digital ID prior to commencement at standard strength
  • Hold or have the ability to obtain a current Police Clearance and Working with Children Check.
