Job description

Indulkana Anangu School is located on the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Lands in the far North of South Australia. Following the school values of Kunpu wanganara nintiringkupai (strong, smart and respectful learners,) we provide education for the Indulkana Community through our Family Centre, Preschool and Reception to Year 12 classes. We nurture and help our students to develop skills as leaders of tomorrow in Western and Anangu Culture. All sectors of the school work together collaboratively to ensure the learning, development and well-being of our students.

We are looking for a passionate, involved Deputy Principal to join our team. No two days are the same, so this is the perfect role for someone who thrives on variety. 

What you will bring:

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and to be positive and extremely flexible 
  • Ability to develop respectful reciprocal relationships with Anangu Educators 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students, parents, and colleagues effectively.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a relevant field. 
  • Require a willingness to take on new learning and pedagogies to suit a wide range of learners is essential.

Indulkana Anangu School is a Country Zone 5 sites you’ll receive up to an additional $20,730 in country incentives in your first year through:

  • Country Incentives Zone Allowance: $10,023 per year
  • One-off incidentals payment: $1,038
  • Locality allowances:
    • Compensation for adverse environment: $3,954 per year
    • Increased cost of living and some aspects of isolation: $1,173 per year
    • In respect of abnormal depreciation of motor vehicle: $4,542 per year

After your first year, you will continue to receive the ongoing allowances each year, currently $19,692.

Other incentives include:

  • Fully Subsidised Accommodation including all utilities (accommodation may be shared) 
  • payment of reasonable removal and relocation costs; on average approximately $7000*
  • reasonable travel and accommodation costs for medical and dental treatment.
  • You will be eligible for paid travel days at this site.
  • You will also receive the Special Class Allowance: $1,472 per year.

*Relocation expenses are a guide based on the average costs of the relocation incentives across all country regions. This will vary depending on distance and circumstances.

To ensure employer compliance of duty of care responsibilities given the unique environment of the APY Lands, a wellness check will be conducted for any teacher nominated for this position and prior to any offer of employment.

Successful applicants must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to enter the APY Lands, as per the local Aboriginal Community Council (APY - Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Executive Board)
