You will complete a Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques over 24 months through a combination of formal training with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and practical on-the-job experience with Zeal Futures and Host Employer, Origin at their Power Station located in Eraring.

The Eraring Power Station, where your training will take place, is a black coal-fired power station located on the shores of Lake Macquarie, approximately 120 km north of Sydney and 40 km south of Newcastle. Throughout your formal training and practical experience in the workplace, you will have the opportunity to:
- Check flows and levels of chemicals, analysers, tanks, and water flow on the plant
- Perform regular inspections to ensure everything is running smoothly.
- Monitor control systems via computers and make necessary adjustments
- Adjust valves and assist with day-to-day operations
- Work closely with the Process Chemist on various tasks
- Engage in stocktakes, calibrations, and cleaning as needed
What you'll bring to the table…
To be successful in this role, you'll need to meet the following selection criteria:
- A genuine passion for chemistry, science, and technology
- A hands-on approach with an ambition to explore and understand processes
- A diligent and disciplined approach to safety and protocols
- Confidence to communicate with colleagues
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Suite and an eagerness to learn new systems.
- Driver's Licence, P1 or above.
- A current White Card or be willing to obtain one before commencement
- Ability to undergo a pre-employment medical, including a drug and alcohol assessment.
