Job description

The Hotel School Australia is a unique educational partnership between Southern Cross University and Mulpha Australia, a major stakeholder in the hospitality, tourism and hotel industry worldwide.

THSA develops future leaders in the hospitality, tourism, leisure and increasingly the luxury lifestyle sectors and does this by delivering a Bachelor of Business in Hotel Management and a Master of Business in Global Hotel Leadership inclusive of 4 nested courses to domestic and international fee-paying students.

SCU is registered as an Australian Public University and as a Provider of Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) with the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA). The ESOS agency has enabled SCU to be registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS). These registrations enable THSA to deliver the courses on behalf of the partnership to both domestic and international students.

Celebrating 35 years of operation in 2024, THSA operates across three states and four campuses and as a result has the largest national footprint of any hospitality, leisure and tourism program in Australia.


  • Domestic lead generation for new student enrolment generation from high schools, vocational colleges and other education providers
  • Ensure students are placed in appropriate internships and manage process of student consultations for internship preparation
  • Assist to establish and maintain a network of prospective employers and host organisations, marketing the degree program where required
  • Develop, promote, deliver and evaluate a variety of activities and events to enhance the employability of students and improve industry knowledge
  • Provide career support and recruitment advice to support students, prospective students and recent graduates to identify individual skills, values and abilities that enhance employability
  • Research and keep abreast of developments and new initiatives in career support services with the sector; network with other career and WIL professionals
  • Deliver a range of career education programs to client groups
  • Liaise with Associations, Career Advisors and hospitality teachers
  • Adhere to Schools Channel plan, attend Career Expos and School Presentations and undertake School Visits
  • Prepare tailored training and career development solutions for industry partners
  • Undertake appropriate marketing, promotion and ambassadorial roles to advance the standing of THS and SCU in all of its activities
  • Contribute to brand positioning according to brand guidelines

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Similar role in higher education preferable

Skills and Competencies:

  • Familiarity with Tertiary education structures and systems preferable
  • An understanding of the structure of departments within international hotels and relationships between the various departments
  • Demonstrated experience in tourism and or hospitality industries
  • Experience in developing and maintaining effective networks, alliances and operational relationships with external clients
  • Knowledge of human resource operations and management within the hospitality industry
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in a range of administrative procedures
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, including excellent telephone manner, and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as an effective team member • Well-developed computer skills and office technology skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office, Internet and Database programs
  • Ability to operate under pressure, work to deadline and be a forward thinker
  • To have a strong customer service ethic (internal and external stakeholders)
  • Commitment to quality outcomes and a professional approach to all aspects of the role
