Job Description:

What We Do

Heidrick Consulting serves as the firm’s leadership advisory arm. We are a team that is passionate about enabling a world better led. The Engagement Leader role is the third level of our consulting career path and provides the opportunity to grow with one of the fastest growing leadership consultancies specializing in accelerating the performance of leaders, teams and organizations. Engagement Leaders are responsible for developing and leading consulting solutions as part of client engagements, acting as project leaders on specific projects, supporting Principals and Partners with client management and supporting business development activities.

In the course of a typical project, you will lead, manage and own problem-solving efforts on a large portion of a client engagement or act as the client lead on smaller engagements. Specifically, you will be responsible for identifying issues, forming hypotheses, designing and delivering solutions and synthesizing conclusions into recommendations. Throughout an engagement, you will be involved in discussions and presentations with senior client leadership.

Role Responsibilities

Client Impact & Engagement: 

  • Ability to deliver client engagements, supporting Principals and Partners
  • Supporting Partner and Principal in project design and staffing requirements
  • Leading the preparation of project plans and team mobilization
  • Managing projects proactively within the agreed scope and timeline, ensuring project plans are current and on track as contracted
  • Actively challenging self and team to deliver highest quality, innovative client solutions
  • Developing trusted relationships and client first mindset with key client stakeholders as possible
  • Flexibly delivering client work, adapting existing models and processes to client needs
  • Achieving target utilization

People: 

  • Coaching, mentoring and onboarding junior team members
  • Developing new and existing relationships across H&S (consulting,  executive search, on-demand talent and digital)
  • Developing and maintaining professional presence and behavior
  • Interacting with the client team, is aware of own impact
  • Building personal reputation as a trusted and respected team player (via work quality and behavior)
  • Is a role model, operating at the highest ethical standards (living our proprietary methodology with clients and team, operating at the highest ethical standards,
    living the firm’s values)

Firm Building: 

  • Key contributor to creating new business proposals, supporting the end-to-end business development cycle
  • Supporting expansion of existing accounts or develop new accounts
  • Working collaboratively with others to generate an agreed range of revenue/ business
  • Contributing to firm level initiatives (e.g. training, recruitment, ERGs, etc.)

Knowledge: 

  • Supporting enhancements to current offerings and/or develops innovative approaches to client work
  • Actively developing self with a learning mindset and supporting a broad range of consulting activities
  • Demonstrating understanding of and is delivering the current product offerings
  • Acting as the organizational radar by listening to clients and leveraging client insights to drive enhancements to Heidrick Consulting solutions

Basic Role Qualifications 

  • 5+ years of work experience in a business environment with 3 years in a management or leadership consulting environment with regular exposure and engagement with clients.
  • Undergraduate degree is required.
  • Advanced in PowerPoint and Excel, proficient in Word; easily able to adopt new technologies and software.
  • Excellent writing skills; ability to successfully prepare concise and compelling reports.
  • Fluent English speaking.

Preferred Role Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Occupational/Organizational Psychology, MBA or other relevant graduate degree.
  • Demonstrated interest and intellectual curiosity/continuous learning in leadership, people, culture, purpose, behavior and organizations.
  • Leads with curiosity – about others, our business, our clients’ businesses.
  • Proven track record of successfully navigating complex problems; thinks ahead, analyses and solves problems, is innovative and handles ambiguity well.
  • Expert interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional commercial awareness / business acumen.
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more domain (leadership assessment & development, succession planning, team & board advisory, organizational culture, purpose and structure, DE&I)
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver flawless client deliverables.
  • Other language skills a plus.
  • Willingness to travel locally and globally as required.
