About the Role
The Information Access Officer provides public access to City of Ryde business information in accordance with the NSW Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009. In this role, you will receive, process, and determine open access, informal and formal requests for access to information. You will also assist with responses to information requests from other government agencies (e.g., Police, ATO) and assist in response to subpoenas. Your role includes conducting research, engaging with relevant internal and external stakeholders, and providing responses in accordance with legislation and best practice standards.
The Information Access Officer supports compliance activities with the GIPA Act and provides advice, guidance and training on access to information and other legislative requirements that impact the way City of Ryde provides public access to information.
Key Requirements
You have significant demonstrated experience in the receipt, determination and processing of high volume and sensitive requests for information in a government environment. You bring to this role highly developed research and analysis skills, including the ability to read and appropriately interpret legislation. You are self-motivated, resilient, and well organised with excellent time management skills and able to work with limited supervision.
You have excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to effectively communicate and engage with a range of stakeholders including contractors, residents, community members and internal customers.
In addition, you will also have:
  • Demonstrated experience in dealing with applications made under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 1993
  • Tertiary qualifications in information or records management or substantial experience in this field

Your commencing annual salary will range from $85,592.34 to $111,270.04 + Superannuation dependent on your experience and qualifications.
