At present, an opportunity exists for an experienced Infrastructure/Linux Deployment Engineer to join a high-profile market leader from either Melbourne or Sydney.
Skills & experience required:
- Bachelor's degree in related field and/or 6 + equivalent years of experience.
- Certified Senior Red hat Linux System Engineer.
- RHEL/CentOS administration skills, user management.
- Expertise with the install/upgrade of new Linux OS releases, configure, upgrade, patch, and secure servers along with performance tuning, and resource optimization.
- Experience building servers with proficient knowledge. Exposure to Kickstart and PXE boot would be ideal.
- Current in uplifting legacy RHEL/OS systems from older end of life to modern versions.
- Experience with VMware administration.
- An understanding of TCP/IP, Active Directory, NTP, DNS, DHCP and network traffic packet captures.
- Experience with network protocols and theory (TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, MAC addresses, IP packets, DNS and load balancing).
- Skilled in writing Puppet manifests - knowledge/experience with Python & Bash ideal.
- Ability to write customer-facing documentation and procedures, create, maintain and update documentation.
- Ability to independently solve technical problems and make engineering choices with light guidance.
Additional (but not required) skills/qualifications include:
- Knowledge of Bash, PERL, Ruby, and Python.
- Experience with Windows Administration.
- Data centre infrastructure background.
- Building of software stacks and related structures within DCs.
