About the Position
As a self-insured employer, return to work claims for work-related injuries are managed under the Local Government Association Workers Compensation Scheme (LGAWACS). Local Government also offers employees income protection cover for personal injuries or illness under the Local Government Protection Fund. Income protection cover is offered at an additional cost to employees under an opt-in arrangement and is managed through the Local Government Risk Services (LGRS).
The Injury Management Advisor is part of the People and Culture team and will be supporting managers and injured workers in their recovery and facilitate return to work outcomes for both work and personal injuries. Working closely with WHS, HR Business Partners and Payroll, the Injury Management Advisor provides all round complete Injury Management services.
About You
Your passion for rehabilitation will see you strive and succeed in this role. We are looking for an individual who is able to balance the needs of individual employees and workplace, build trust and confidence in our ability to support injured workers in their recovery and return to work.
You will be experienced in both the strategic and operational side of Injury Management; from developing and implementing health and wellbeing initiatives, maintaining Injury Management policies and processes, to managing individual cases and issues.
You will have a problem-solving and empathetic mindset, with a natural ability to communicate and build rapport with all stakeholders. Key to your success will be your ability to multi-task in an operational setting, highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively.
Key Selection Criteria:
- Experience coordinating, monitoring, and documenting workers compensation claims.
- Experience supporting people leaders in returning injured workers back to the workplace after work-related or personal injury.
- Understanding and experience working in accordance with the Return-to-Work Act 2014 (SA), Work Health and Safety Act 2012 (SA) and the Fair Work Act 2012 (SA).
- Experience developing and reviewing organisational policies and procedures.
- Experience in working with employee representatives, medical practitioners, health providers or insurers to achieve satisfactory outcomes and objectives for injured workers and the organization.
- A Tertiary qualification is essential.
