Injury Management & Whs Advisor

Centacare is the social services arm of the Catholic Archdiocese of Brisbane and has been operating in South East Queensland for over 50 years. With more than 3500 employees working across a range of community services providing aged care, disability services, family relationship services and childcare to over 100,000 clients per year.
The Work Health and Safety (WHS) team currently consists of 5 WHS Advisors and 2 Injury Management Advisors supporting both Archdiocese and Centacare agencies in meeting their WHS obligations. We are currently seeking applications for an Injury Management and WHS Advisor position to provide advice, support and build capability within the Centacare agency. The primary focus of this position is Injury Management 0.8FTE along with a 0.2FTE being allocated to WHS initiatives.
The position Areas of responsibility will include:

• Facilitate and lead early communication with injured employees to clarify the nature and severity of the worker’s injury, the prognosis and rehabilitation requirements.
• Liaise with relevant allied health providers, WorkCover claims assessors/representatives and internal stakeholders.
• Coach supervisors and managers on proactive rehabilitation including the implementation of return-to-work plans and means of supporting injured workers.
• Statistical reporting on claims management activities and processes to identify trends to assist with strategic safety planning.
• Provide ergonomic work assessments to determine suitability of work tasks and provide advice on ergonomic workstation set ups.
• Assess various work tasks to identify specific ergonomic requirements and document appropriate work processes (complete job task analyses).
• Participate in injury prevention initiatives in line with the organizational WHS strategic plan.
• Respond to enquiries and requests from services in relation to WHS.
• Complete internal hazard identification of Centacare workplaces within agreed timeframes.
• Undertake internal WHS audits and inspections to develop clear actions in consultation with internal stakeholders, and provide assistance as required to services to address identified gaps.

The successful candidate will require:

• Completed Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinators training.
• Relevant experience in workplace rehabilitation and return to work case management.
• WHS or Allied Health Qualification in Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy would be desirable.
• Current QLD open driver’s license.
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Workers’ Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to influence capability at all stakeholder levels.

This is a permanent fulltime position and remuneration will reflect the experience of the successful candidate.
