Who we’re looking for:

Newmont is currently seeking an experienced Instrumentation Project Engineer to oversee and lead all external engineering firms responsible for designing the Instrumentation System for the Cadia Integrated Tailings Project (CITP).

Your experience in project management will ensure the design meets requirements and design activities meet budget and schedule. Additionally, you will play a vital role in coordinating and liasing multiple stakeholder groups to ensure timely and accurate information sharing and problem solving.

Please note, this role will be offered either as a full time 5/2 roster (Mon-Fri) to Orange NSW regional residents, or as a 12/9 roster for FIFO / DIDO workers and you will be required to work on site at Cadia Valley Operations (located 25km’s outside of Orange, NSW) for the duration of your rostered days on.

Key responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Guide and deliver the Instrumentation System design including the development of all appropriate documentation.
• Ensure the design meets or exceeds stakeholder requirements.
• Assist in the development of instrumentation standards, procedures and specifications.
• Assist the Project Manager with developing and tracking System Performance metrics and reporting
• Lead risk assessments required in the development, operation and improvement of the Instrumentation System.
• Develop project implementation plans including procurement, implementation and commissioning schedules.
• Collaborate with geotechnical engineers, structural engineers, and construction teams to ensure the integration of geotechnical instrumentation data into the project design and construction phases.
• Assist the operational instrumentation team when required.
• Ensure that all geotechnical instrumentation activities adhere to safety standards and guidelines. Identify and implement safety measures to protect personnel and equipment.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of instrumentation installations, data collected, and analysis performed. Generate timely and accurate reports for project stakeholders and regulatory authorities.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in geotechnical instrumentation technology and monitoring techniques. Suggest and implement improvements to enhance monitoring efficiency and effectiveness.

The ideal candidate will also possess the following:

• Candidates with backgrounds in System Engineering, process engineering, mining engineering, or instrumentation engineering will be highly valued.
• Strong documentation skills, including maintaining thorough records of installations, data collection, and analysis, and producing accurate reports.
• Strong aptitude for stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple stakeholders.
• Ability to understand project controls and commitment to adhering to safety standards.
