Oasis Youth Services provide safe and secure accommodation and professional support for young people who are homeless, by establishing rapport and providing individual, flexible support through a person centred framework.

About the role We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Intake Assessment & Planning Worker to complete comprehensive holistic assessments with all potential program participants to determine eligibility and appropriate housing pathway placements. Reporting to the Team Leader, this is a permanent, full-time position based in Canberra, ACT.

Salary and conditions are in accordance with SCHADS Level 4. You will successfully Work collaboratively with the ACT’s Centralised Intake Services for Homelessness Services.

Respond in a timely and effective manner to all referrals. Determine if referrals can be made for family interventions and mediation that can divert a young person’s trajectory into homelessness services. Coordinate all initial internal and external referrals as appropriate for young people.

Provide reports to Team Leaders and Regional Manager for six monthly reporting requirements. Acquire and maintain a good working knowledge of housing and homelessness services and government and community support options for young people. Support Living and Life skills / Participation worker in the development and youth participation in formal living skills/training programs, and provide feedback to ensure the programs continue to be relevant to the needs of the young people.

Effectively work within a team that fosters and empowers continuous improvement. Meet Work Health and Safety obligations.

You will have Minimum of Degree / Diploma level qualification in a relevant discipline - Social Work, Youth Work, Community Services / Case Management.

ACT Working with Vulnerable People Certification. Current ACT Driver License.

Current Senior First Aid Certification – Desirable. Extensive experience in youth work or within a Specialist Homelessness Service (Minimum 3 years).

Demonstrated experience and ability to work with those impacted by substance miss-use, alcohol, gambling, and mental health conditions. A basic understanding of Attachment Disorder and Trauma Informed Care. Highly developed oral and written communication skills along with an ability to actively listen.

Ability to write strengths focused and evidence based documentation. Experience working in collaboration with other internal and external organisations. Understanding of Investigative interviewing and/or motivational interviewing skills.
