The key duties of the position include
The Role
The Sustainment Cell Lead is responsible to the Strategic High Frequency Communications (SHFC) ILS Manager to provide ILS to the current Defence High Frequency Communication System (DHFCS) under the Contract (Support). The Sustainment Cell Lead is responsible for the management and leadership of the Sustainment Cell Team who ultimately provide these services.
The Sustainment Cell Lead position responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Act as the ILS Manager during incumbent ILS Manager absences.
  • Lead and manage the SHFC Sustainment Cell to achieve the outcomes directed by the ILS Manager and SHFC Program Director.
  • Provide Sect 23(3) Commitment Approval for procurements, APS and Contractor travel proposals.
  • Provide feedback and assist with review of all ILS related contract deliverables as directed by the ILS Manager.
  • Provide Subject Matter Expert advice in support of JP9101PH1 ILS Team, as directed by the ILS Manager.

About our Team
The Maritime & Strategic Communications Systems Program Office (MSCSPO) is responsible for the acquisition, integration and sustainment of 1) SHF Communications, 2) Maritime Communications Modernisation; 3) The Naval and Shore Communications Sustainment Management Office (NSCSMO) and 4) The Naval Communication Station Harold E Holt at Exmouth WA, command, and control warfare systems for the Australian Defence Force across the country and in operational theatres overseas.
Our team is made up of distinctive areas that provide the sustainment philosophy, approvals, management, and accountability for the SHFC capability within Defence.
Our Ideal Candidate
An APS 6 ILS Manager will demonstrate leadership behaviours and traits in accordance with Defence values. We are looking for a candidate with a demonstrated understanding of and experience in logistics management.
  • They will have a high level of knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policy requirements.
  • They will demonstrate the ability to interpret and provide advice within the materiel logistics function based on legislation, policy and procedures.
  • They will have a considerable level of stakeholder engagement skills and experience in liaison with stakeholders in relation to logistics and quality assurance management.
