Undertakes other ad hoc client requests as necessary. Accountable for tasks as delegated by senior accountants, managers or Directors. You will be based in a modern office in the Brisbane CBD area.Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation of Activity Statements
- Registration of new businesses, applications and lodgements.
- Able to complete tax returns including individual, partnership, company and trust returns.
- Understand deductibility of certain items.
- Demonstrates self checking skills
- Able to prepare accurate and logical work papers.
- Completion of financial statements from an adjusted trial balance, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and statements of retained earnings.
- Broad understanding of income tax (and allow measures to reduce tax), company tax, fundamentals of trust law and superannuation provisions.
- Able to complete core CGT calculations
- Able to identify common taxation compliance issues such as Division 7A, personal service income issues, and non-commercial loss provisions.
- Good understanding of application of GST.
- Good understanding of various entity structures and the tax implications of each.
- Able to research and resolve issues associated with returns.
- Currently undertaking a relevant degree e.g - Commerce, Accounting, Business.
- 1-2 years experience as an accounting trainee
- Experience working with accounting software including MYOB and/or Quickbooks.
