Are you a Technical Writer wanting your next challenge?  A global mining & construction equipment manufacturer has a long-term contract opportunity within its Autonomy and Automation Division based at its Brisbane product development centre. As a Technical Writer, you will be responsible for preparing a range of documents from release notes to user manuals for a variety of sophisticated mine management software. You will work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) and collaborate with the engineering and product support teams to ensure accurate and comprehensive content for various audiences, including internal employees, product support team, and customers.
 
Duties & Responsibilities will include:
  • Plan, write, update, and deliver technical documentation including release notes, user guides, reference manuals, configuration manuals, admin guides, etc.,
  • Collaborate effectively with product owners, stakeholders, and support engineers to gather product information.
  • Analyse existing and potential content, focusing on reuse and single-sourcing opportunities.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in technical writing.
  • Adapt to new project requirements and meet project deadlines.
 
Skills & Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience as a Technical Writer but not more than 8-12 years of experience
  • You must have a proven track record of being able to multi-task and be adaptable and flexible in managing hard deadlines
  • Strong skills to navigate ambiguity
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Writing, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Proficiency in documentation tools Adobe Robohelp & MadCap Flare is a must.
  • Strong communication and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in working on source control tools like Git, Source Tree, etc.,
  • Deep understanding in managing the Devops tickets.
  • Experience with HTML, XML, CSS is an advantage.
 
Experience with the following is highly desirable:
  • Domain knowledge of construction/mining sector
It's a hybrid role with 3 days in the office (Brisbane CBD) and 2 days from home each week. You will work within a social and relaxed atmosphere within a supportive team culture. The initial contract duration is 12 months with the strong possibility of extensions for a high performer.
 
The role requires that candidates have the right to work in Australia with no restrictions and that you reside in Brisbane.
