This role is based in the Internal Audit Team who work to provide objective assurance and consulting activity designed to add value across operational processes. The team offers high level support for the delivery of Internal Audit in line with UNSW’s Strategy 2025 and key risks by managing and executing projects included in UNSW’s Internal Audit Plan. Why your Role Matters As Internal Audit Manager, you’ll work as a trusted partner and advisor to provide independent, objective assurance expertise to senior management and develop high-quality deliverables (reports, dashboard, scope documents) designed to support UNSW’s internal control environment and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operations. Leading reviews and investigations across the University, you’ll be confident in developing the scope and approach of audit engagements as per stakeholder needs. With a strong background in risk and controls, your role works to highlight and address business trends and deliver on projects across UNSW’s Internal Audit Plan.
This role reports to the Director, Internal Audit and works with Senior Internal Audit Managers to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of internal control processes over key business process risks at the University. Skills & experience: We’re looking for a strong background in a risk and controls environment, with a minimum of 5 years of Internal Audit experience. You will hold:
A postgraduate Internal Audit, accounting or equivalent qualification (e.g. CA, CIA or equivalent).
Risk and controls experience within professional services and/or relevant commercial environment.
Big 4 and prior Internal Audit experience in the higher education sector is highly regarded.
Strong project management experience, analytical skills, and proactive attitude to independently lead and execute Internal Audit activities.
Business presence, confidence and composure to quickly develop professional rapport and credibility.
Effective leadership, interpersonal and communication skills, excellent ability to communicate complex information – both verbal and written.
Experience in interacting with business stakeholders and working as a key member of a team.
Experience in using data analytics to support Internal Audit reviews is desirable.
