We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Internal Loss Adjuster to join our Australia Operations Claims Department, based in the Melbourne or Sydney office.
The role will involve the investigation, negotiation and settlement of Property Damage and Business Interruption claims for our industrial, commercial and real estate clients. Whilst mostly office based, there will be opportunities to conduct site visits as required. There will be opportunities for the right candidate to progress into an External Loss Adjuster position in the future.
With responsibility for developing and maintaining long lasting relationships with our policyholders and brokers, the successful applicant will need to demonstrate a high level of personal credibility through outstanding interpersonal skills and an aptitude for negotiation.
The successful applicant will be joining a team of highly motivated and technically skilled Loss Adjusters, handling claims across Australia and New Zealand. We offer a supportive team environment, with a high level of emphasis placed on training and mentoring. The successful applicant will complete FM Global’s industry leading comprehensive claims training programme, which involves residential courses delivered in Boston, Massachusetts.
Key Responsibilities
- Responding to first notice of loss, including advising clients on mitigation, including restoration and salvage
- Loss measurement and application of policy coverage
- Subrogation identification and handling
- Manage consultants, which may include engineers, lawyers and forensic accountants
- Negotiate with the Insured to reconcile differences on loss measurement/coverage
- Build and maintain strong relationships with the Insured and broker in order to reach an equitable and favourable settlement as soon as possible.
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
Education, Experience & Skills
- 2+ years claims experience preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills including negotiating and consulting
- Ability to make quick and sound recommendations
- Excellent written and communication skills; planning, organisational and time management skills
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional qualifications preferred, but not essential
- Ability to work on your own initiative to deadlines
- Positive, confident and resilient attitude to challenges
