Brisbane City Council’s Construction Branch delivers high quality, value for money, whole of life infrastructure to the city of Brisbane and delivers an extensive range of high quality specialist services including inspection, maintenance and construction of civil assets. Construction Branch has six groups with over 500 employees. The Structures section delivers a range of specialist services in the areas of civil infrastructure including the construction, maintenance and inspection of bridges including cross river bridges. Additionally, they deliver services to a wide range of other structures relating to sea, river and creek systems.
The primary purpose of the Senior Structures Inspector - Major Bridges is to provide technical expertise and onsite support to the bridge inspection team. Senior Inspectors conduct large and complex routine inspections on major structures such as arterial road bridges and non-standard structural assets including bridge servicing. Senior Inspectors will program for others and execute their own program of work in consultation with the Operations Coordinator Inspections and Senior Bridge Engineer.
In this role you will:
- work within budget and ensure works are carried out to agreed standards and specifications
- plan, schedule and complete routine programs of bridge inspections
- undertake minor maintenance to inspected structures
- facilitate and manage the acquisitions of all permits for routine inspections
- prepare safety management plans, work instructions and risk assessments
- conduct comprehensive level one and two bridge inspections
- act as the team leader for up to 10 personnel during onsite operations
- operate access equipment during onsite inspection operations.
To be successful, you will have:
- demonstrated ability in the execution and coordination of programs of work for bridge inspection activity
- highly developed interpersonal and liaison skills
- highly developed problem solving skills with the ability to influence and manage people responsible for conducting work for Council
- experience in the use of sensitive and technical equipment
- ability and experience in the operation of underbridge inspection and/or maintenance vehicles
- demonstrated experience within a civil environment undertaking structural works and inspections
- a white card and current "C" Class driver's licence.
