About the Job

The AkindaCo Media Internship offers an outstanding opportunity for students in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, Graphic Design, Video, Photography, and Multimedia to utilise their academic studies in a professional environment focused on mental health. As a Media Intern at AkindaCo, you will work within a specific subject matter vertical, collaborating with global mental health professionals and contributing to the company's initiatives aimed at raising awareness and supporting mental well-being support. This internship provides hands-on experience that will not only give you practical insights into your field of study but also help you develop crucial professional skills within a dynamic, mission-driven organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research, write, and edit engaging content for AkindaCo's digital platforms, including articles, blog posts, social media, and multimedia assets.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of media campaigns, events, and other marketing initiatives focused on mental distress / health awareness and support.
  • Collaborate with AkindaCo's mental health experts to develop compelling narratives and visual storytelling that highlight issues and perspectives.
  • Contribute to AkindaCo's thought leadership initiatives, such as webinars, training, education and policy.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities, including mentorship from mental health professionals and exposure to the latest trends and best practices in mental health communications.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a vocational or higher education qualification in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, Graphic Design, Video, Photography, or Multimedia.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor content for diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in digital media tools and platforms, such as content management systems, social media, and multimedia editing software.
  • Demonstrated interest in mental health and helping professions or related fields.
  • Excellent time management, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Passion for making a positive impact.

Preference will be given to candidates enrolled in a skills-based traineeship/apprenticeship.
