The AkindaCo Media Internship offers an outstanding opportunity for students in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, Graphic Design, Video, Photography, and Multimedia to utilise their academic studies in a professional environment focused on mental health. As a Media Intern at AkindaCo, you will work within a specific subject matter vertical, collaborating with global mental health professionals and contributing to the company's initiatives aimed at raising awareness and supporting mental well-being support. This internship provides hands-on experience that will not only give you practical insights into your field of study but also help you develop crucial professional skills within a dynamic, mission-driven organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Research, write, and edit engaging content for AkindaCo's digital platforms, including articles, blog posts, social media, and multimedia assets.
- Assist with the planning and execution of media campaigns, events, and other marketing initiatives focused on mental distress / health awareness and support.
- Collaborate with AkindaCo's mental health experts to develop compelling narratives and visual storytelling that highlight issues and perspectives.
- Contribute to AkindaCo's thought leadership initiatives, such as webinars, training, education and policy.
- Participate in professional development opportunities, including mentorship from mental health professionals and exposure to the latest trends and best practices in mental health communications.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a vocational or higher education qualification in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, Graphic Design, Video, Photography, or Multimedia.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor content for diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in digital media tools and platforms, such as content management systems, social media, and multimedia editing software.
- Demonstrated interest in mental health and helping professions or related fields.
- Excellent time management, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
- Passion for making a positive impact.
Preference will be given to candidates enrolled in a skills-based traineeship/apprenticeship.
