• Part time position (minimum 152 hours)
• Flexible working days and hours from July 2024 to September 2024
• Paid internship program - $24.66/hr + 11% superannuation

The three intern roles are-

ZOOKEEPER INTERN

This will be based at Healesville Sanctuary. The Keeper Internship position is an entry level to the zoo keeping trade. This position assists with husbandry requirements for a range of collection animals and is able to work within a team of keepers made up of staff with backgrounds in the husbandry of a variety of taxa.  This includes the need to follow Zoos Victoria procedures relating to animal management, responsibilities for animal welfare and developing skills in observation, data collection and reporting to support animal collection management.

This position will also assist in specific areas within the Animal Department including exhibit presentation and enclosure maintenance, equipment operation and maintenance and Occupational Health and Safety.

EDUCATION INTERN

This position is in the Education team at Healesville Sanctuary. The Education team deliver workshops for school students who are visiting the Sanctuary. The Education Intern will report to the Education Manager and will be part of a small team of Education Officers and volunteers. The Education Intern will:

• Meet and greet visiting school groups
• Collaborate with the education team to develop experiences for students and teachers
• Assist with delivering workshops for students and teachers
• Assist with delivering teacher professional development workshops for teachers
• Support the delivery of our Fighting Extinction School mentoring program
• Support work experience students on placement at the Sanctuary
• General administrative tasks to support the education team During placement the Education Intern will be assigned a mentor and can attend any training available to all staff.

FINANCE-PROCUREMENT INTERN

This will be based at Melbourne Zoo. We are seeking a Procurement Intern to support us with our Supplier Review.

The Procurement Intern will report to the Procurement Officer Shared Services and would be responsible for:

• running Excel reports from the supplier responses,
• adding new suppliers to the system to be sent the questionnaire.
• providing data entry to fill in missing data fields.
• sharing data response insights with the Procurement Team.

Eligibility criteria

• You must be enrolled in the second last or final year of a relevant tertiary degree at a recognised tertiary institution, or have graduated from a relevant degree within 36 months (three years) of the application date.

• You must have full work rights in Australia (citizenship or a relevant student visa. Each host organisation will have their own citizenship requirements).
• You will need to be committed and prepared to participate fully in the program.
• Preference will be given to those applicants who haven't applied for or participated in the Stepping Into Program previously.
