Job Description

If you are an experienced Registered (RN) or Enrolled Nurse (EN) with aspirations of working in the perioperative environment, or a nurse with previous theatre experience who would like to return to the workforce, the Epworth perioperative Introduction to Specialty Practice (ISP) may be for you.

This highly sought-after role is designed to meet the specific theoretical and practical needs of a nurse wishing to pursue or further their career in the perioperative setting.

The ISP program:

  • Commences 29th April 2024 and is a 12-month program with an ongoing position upon completion
  • Is designed to introduce and expand on the concepts of perioperative nursing in the areas of Anaesthetics/PACU 
  • Enables participants to develop an understanding of the principles and practice of perioperative nursing and ensure they have attained a satisfactory level of competency to work in a safe and effective manner
  • Combination of theory, simulation and clinical exposure will be used to deliver and assess program content
  • Commences with a study block (full time) where pre and post reading material will be provided
  • Provides performance appraisals and regular feedback at various intervals throughout the program
  • Includes paid study days facilitated by experienced Epworth perioperative educators

To be successful in this role...

You have a commitment to learning and upskilling in this specialised area.  All of the course requirements and study days will be attended and you will be committed to your ongoing educational needs. 

You will have: 

  • Current AHPRA registration
  • 12 months experience post-registration in an acute hospital setting (RN or EN)
